I've Never Eaten in a Cave Before

This ceiling seemed so intriguing when I first saw it. Many times the ceiling is a forgotten element in interior design. This ceiling reminds me of a cave.

The timber stalactites encase the bar of a coffee shop in  Łódź, Poland. I think the ceiling is so creative.

Graphic Stools

These stools are brought to you by the creative minds of Glimpt. Mattias Rask and Tor Palm are the Swedish design duo behind Glimpt. They search the world to create objects that have a deeper story between design and crafts.

The stools are made in Vietnam from rolls of seagrass and wrapped with thread, normally used for hammocks.

The collection is called Superheros. It was developed with Vietnamese furniture company UMA.

I really like the bold colors on the stools. When I first saw the stools I didn't think that they were made of seagrass. These would be such a fun accessory for a living area or any place in a home. They would definitely be a conversation starter!

Not Your Typical Renovation

Behind the walls of a 19th-century facade there is feast for the eyes. The exterior of the building has such character. I was pleasantly surprised to see the interior. Entering into Yang Yeo's house is a ritual itself. Once you enter you have left the busy street into a peaceful tranquil space.

A beautiful hand craved wooden screen.

I would have never guessed the this contemporary interior would be inside this typical 85-year old shophouse. The crisp clean lines could come across as being cold, however, the space is very warm and inviting. The openness of the eating area is great, it allows for more natural light to filter through the space.

The kitchen gives off a zen-like feel. The trees cause the kitchen to feel tranquil against the concrete floor.

Such a contemporary, tranquil, inviting space in the midst of Singapore.

Step Up to the Challenge

Located in the Monarch Hotel in Dubai, OKKU is anything but your traditional Japanese restaurant. This restaurant and lounge screams luxury. LW Design has a unique challenge when designing the space. The space needed to accommodate 200 seats, however, the physical space is tall and narrow. The owners also wished to have a supporting mezzanine. Talk about a tall order for the physical restraints of the space.

The question had to be asked "how does one add 50 percent more seating than a space can hold?" LW Design came up with a creative design solution. "Suspending two dining decks from the ceiling slab gave another dimension to the restaurant, because now you have three different levels," says creative partnet at LW Design Jesper Godsk.

This restaurant is nothing short of spectacular. This goes to prove even with design challenges a beautiful space can emerge. The space is visual engaging environment.

Feening for Shepard Fairey

I have been a big fan of graffiti art ever since I could remember. I guess you can say I have always been a fan of the art world. In one of my many art history classes I had to write a research paper on the artist of your choice. This was the beginning of my fascination with Shepard Fairey began.

The iconic OBEY

I happened to find out that a classmate of mine is good friends with him. I almost had a heart attack. Shepard Fairey is such an inspiration. He has created a marriage between his art politics. Watch Shepard Fairey's interview here.

A Never Ending Retail Experience

Is that a mirror? That is normally the question that is asked when trying to make a room look larger. A mirror adds depth to a space. Mirrors reflect natural and artificial light. Mirrors on walls and glass tabletops make a space feel more open. Mirror are a great trick to fool your eye.

Zuo Corp took mirrors to a whole 'nother level. This pop-up store has the walls, ceilings and floors lined with mirrors. Talk about reflection! The use of mirrors creates an illusion of an endless amount of clothing racks and railings.

I almost get a futuristic feeling because of the LED lights. The light is such a crisp white and the mirrors created an infinite illuminated grid. The store is 27 square meters, about 290 square feet, but the mirrors create the illusion that there is an infinite amount of space.
