Not Your Typical Renovation

Behind the walls of a 19th-century facade there is feast for the eyes. The exterior of the building has such character. I was pleasantly surprised to see the interior. Entering into Yang Yeo's house is a ritual itself. Once you enter you have left the busy street into a peaceful tranquil space.

A beautiful hand craved wooden screen.

I would have never guessed the this contemporary interior would be inside this typical 85-year old shophouse. The crisp clean lines could come across as being cold, however, the space is very warm and inviting. The openness of the eating area is great, it allows for more natural light to filter through the space.

The kitchen gives off a zen-like feel. The trees cause the kitchen to feel tranquil against the concrete floor.

Such a contemporary, tranquil, inviting space in the midst of Singapore.
