Step Up to the Challenge

Located in the Monarch Hotel in Dubai, OKKU is anything but your traditional Japanese restaurant. This restaurant and lounge screams luxury. LW Design has a unique challenge when designing the space. The space needed to accommodate 200 seats, however, the physical space is tall and narrow. The owners also wished to have a supporting mezzanine. Talk about a tall order for the physical restraints of the space.

The question had to be asked "how does one add 50 percent more seating than a space can hold?" LW Design came up with a creative design solution. "Suspending two dining decks from the ceiling slab gave another dimension to the restaurant, because now you have three different levels," says creative partnet at LW Design Jesper Godsk.

This restaurant is nothing short of spectacular. This goes to prove even with design challenges a beautiful space can emerge. The space is visual engaging environment.
